Ever felt like your IT Dept works for a different company?
Or if you’re in IT, ever felt like your business users are from another planet?
Business users wonder why IT makes their lives harder. On the flipside, IT staff feel deeply underappreciated.
You can narrow the gap by:
- Asking “why” – Seek to understand why the business is asking for something. Seek to understand why IT thinks that “something” is impossible to do.
- Being inclusive – Involve business users when technology is implemented. Give the IT staff a seat at the table when discussing business issues.
Try these two things. It’ll be a small but positive step.
As we conduct Technology Assessments in all types of organizations (big and small; private and public), we’ve noticed these common gaps. People often look to technology solutions to solve technology issues. But sometimes, the solution lies within people and processes.
